Outline of the Week:
Monday, August 15th: All freshman and band officers arrive. We will start with a meeting to introduce the band staff and officers. After this, all new band members will be fitted for marching band uniforms. The band officers will answer any questions about the high school band. They will then help put together the new podium while the freshmen have a marching rehearsal on the football field with the field staff. We will also go over the music for the Wednesday night performance which includes The National Anthem, Patriot Dreams, and Tribute to America. Lunch will be from 12:00-1:00pm. Students should bring their own bag lunch and a water bottle each day. Water WILL be provided for the band! We will then rehearse from 1:00-2:30pm.
Tuesday, August 16th: All band members arrive at 8:00am. We will start outside with a group stretch lead by the Drum Majors. Following this we will have a drill rehearsal where we work on marching technique. Our goal as well is to get through the first five sets of the show by lunch time at noon. From 1:00-2:30 we will be working on The National Anthem, Patriot Dreams, A Tribute to America and the show music (The Beatles). Everyone will be fitted for uniforms throughout the day. All uniforms from last year are still labeled so we can change sizes for growth if need be but we are in pretty good shape. We will have 5 extra uniforms this year so we should be just fine with fittings.
Wednesday, August 17th: All band members arrive at 8:00am. We will spend 8am-11am in sectionals working on the show music. We will then meet as a full ensemble from 11-12. Lunch will be from 12-1. When arriving back from lunch, we will go outside and learn more drill along with stretches with the Drum Majors. From 1:00-4:00 we will work on drill/music. We will have a pizza party at 4:15. Following this we will get into uniform and load the busses. All students need to be wearing a white t-shirt and black marching shoes with black socks. We must leave Pentucket by 5:00pm. If you would like to chaperone, please send me an e-mail. We will play three selections in front of the stadium at 6:15. Following this we will enter the stadium and perform the National Anthem at 7:00. If you are a parent/family who would like to go to the game and sit with the band and not chaperone, please call (978) 459-1702 for tickets at $6.00 a piece. Please mention you are with Pentucket when speaking to them. If you want better seats, they cost more money but well worth it. The band will be leaving the game at 10:00pm even if it the game is not over yet. We should be arriving back to Pentucket Regional High School by 10:45pm to unload. All uniforms must be hung up. Students should bring money with them if they want to purchase drinks and snacks at the game.
Thursday, August 18th: All band members arrive at 8:00am. We will be breaking for lunch from 12:00-1:00 and will resume rehearsal from 1:00-2:30. Our goal is to get the first and last movements of "The Beatles" playing on the move.
Friday: Tentative Rehearsal from 8am-Noon. If we get everything accomplished throughout the week, we will cancel this day.
